Catalyzing worker co-ops & the solidarity economy

Beyond the Moment: April 4th Day

M4BL joins partners around the country in immigration, low-wage worker rights, gender justice, and other movements to launch Beyond the Moment: Uniting Movements from April 4th to May Day (BTM), a campaign, that will help expand the idea of solidarity so that we can resist together across communities.

The combination of actions, which begin tomorrow, April 4th, range from small vigils to mass mobilizations, all of which are grounded in an analysis centering anti-Black racism to expose just how intertwined issues of social inequality really are. The date marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech at Riverside Church in New York City, where he offered a radical critique of imperialist war and the injustice of racial capitalism. Dr. King was assassinated exactly one year later (April 4, 1968) on the eve of the launch of the Poor People’s Campaign which would declare poverty a human rights violation.

Mass political education will take place throughout April as a means of connecting the moment we’re in, the need to work across movements, and lessons we can learn from past struggles.  Find an action near you and take these next steps right now!
