On Saturday, March 7, from 3:30 to 6 pm, the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture and the BLK ProjeK are co-sponsoring an event with the Cooperative Development Institute, “Celebrating Collective Courage.”
This is the ending celebration of a month-long exhibit celebrating the history of African diaspora cooperative economics through art and culture. This event will focus on the history of women of color’s cooperation, particularly in the realms of art and culture, and honor the work of Prof. Jessica Gordon Nembhard, PhD, author of Collective Courage: A History of African American Cooperative Economic Thought and Practice. Prof. Gordon Nembhard will speak, along with present-day women co-operators from around New York City, and there will be videos and live performances on the theme of “Celebrating Collective Courage.”
Non-alcoholic drinks and light refreshments to be served, with plenty of time for mingling.
