Catalyzing worker co-ops & the solidarity economy

Help Shape New Sustainable Economies Advocacy Organization

WELCOME:
Thank you for taking the time to help shape the policy organization for the sustainable economies movement! Please take a few moments to learn about this 501(c)4 organization, and then fill out the questionnaire below.

INTRODUCING THE 501(C)(4) FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIES:
What’s so great about a 501(c)(4)? It can change laws! Unlike 501(c)(3) nonprofits, which limit legislative advocacy, 501(c)(4) nonprofits can engage in unlimited amounts of lobbying. The mission of this 501(c)(4) is to support lobbying for the greater good -- catalyzing widespread adoption of city, state, and federal policies that help communities create, own, and manage their own sustainable sources of food, energy, water, jobs, housing, and other vital elements of thriving communities. This organization will empower nonprofits *and* individuals to take an active role in shaping our economies.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT:
This 501(c)(4) can act as a fiscal sponsor, or “umbrella,” for the policy advocacy efforts of 501(c)(3) nonprofits or of individuals or groups that don’t otherwise have an organizational umbrella. The 501(c)(4) will handle administrative tasks, financial accounting, tax reporting, and legal compliance.

SKILLS AND STRATEGY FOR SUCCESS:
This 501(c)(4) will pool expert skills and resources, train individuals on legislative advocacy, help draft legislation, consult on campaign strategies, and convene networks and coalitions to set collective policy priorities.

HELP MAKE IT THE BEST IT CAN BE:
By providing your feedback, you will help Sustainable Economies Law Center to convene the 501(c)4 with your work and priorities in mind. Let’s do this together, so we can transition to just and sustainable economies, one policy at a time!
