"I...depend on GEO to keep me connected to this wild and inspiring movement!"
Fund for Democratic Communities' Marnie Thompson on why she supports GEO
In late 2009 and early 2010, Ed Whitfield and I were trying to figure out a new direction for F4DC. We knew we would shift our focus more strongly to the economy, and we knew we would also connect more to the idea of people getting together to "do for ourselves." Over the previous year, I'd been getting quarterly emails from GEO - not sure how I got onto the distribution list. To help us understand the direction we wanted to go in, I shared some of these newsletters with Ed and some other folks we were talking with, and the whole thing just crystalized for us! In many ways, the Southern Grassroots Economies Project is a direct descendent of GEO!
Five years later, I still depend on GEO to keep me connected to this wild and inspiring movement!
